HELP WANTED

motel room cleaner

I got a job working as a room cleaner at a local motel last summer. My dad knew the owner of the motel, and got my older sister and me jobs. The first day I worked with my sister, and it wasn't all that bad. We had to push around these huge cleaning carts from door to door outside, and luckily the motel was only one floor. It was actually fun for me. We restocked the towels and toiletries, changed the sheets and re-made the beds, dusted a little, cleaned the sinks, toilets and showers, then vacuumed the floor, and we were done! Since there were two of us, it went really quickly!

But after about a week, I really started to hate that job! It was so exhausting and I got sore all over from pushing that stupid cart. Plus, I was always outside going from room to room, and the sun completely drained me. When I wasn't working with my sister the day seemed to go much slower, and I got tired much more easily. The only bright moment was at the end of the month when I got my paycheck. It was only about $350, but it was money! I continued working when school started again, but only on the weekends.

It was the job from hell, literally! I wouldn't ever recommend getting a job as a motel room cleaner, unless all the rooms are in an enclosed building.
