Relationships between gay men and straight women are, in my opinion, among the healthiest and most fun. All the junk that tends to lead to mistrust is simply missing. There's no chance of romantic involvement, and there's no selfish competition. Instead, there are Saturdays spent shopping for the right shoe (we do understand the hunt for the perfect boot), compliments you deserve (we notice your haircuts!) and a camaraderie built around swooning over boys.
So how do you tell if you have one of your own? What is a real sensitive boy like?
Well, he is the boy in your life who watches "Absolutely Fabulous," "Sex in the City" and "Martha Stewart," and the one who can sing every word of Jennifer Lopez's new song. He's the one you feel glamorous around (you do facials and manicures together) and the one you feel comfortable with (you can ask him to pick up tampons on his way over). When gossiping about men, he's both your spy and your closest confidant because he knows what it's like to be a man and what it's like to have a crush on one. And whether or not you ask for it, he will always give you his honest, if somewhat dramatic, opinion.
Your sensitive boy is someone you may mistakenly fall for. Other times, he mistakenly falls for you. No matter, you always get through with a good cry and a day at the mall--together. He is the Will to your Grace. The Rupert to your Madonna. I've got to say it: the fag to your hag.
