"I include these sweatshop info flyers with the orders I mail out. A lot of people don't know where clothing comes from, and don't know anything about sweatshop labor, so I like to teach them.
I do have some shirts sewn by professional sewers--like when I have too many orders to handle myself. I was hesitant about getting stuff made for a while because I was unsure of factories. The ones I have seen in the past were creepy.
The one I use now is nice: comfortable, spacious, a small business of a few women. Not tons of people in a cramped room, NOT a sweatshop.
It's more expensive, but I feel better about it. It's still my deisgn--I picked the fabrics and made the pattern--I just pay them to do the sewing part."
