Christian: Start something in high school. Start a fashion program or be part of one, or put on a fashion show and ask teachers for help. My teachers were really supportive.

When you're searching for colleges, if you don't want to major in fashion design, you could go to a university that has more apparel [classes]. If you're definitely gung-ho for fashion, then try to come to NY and go to a design school. Even if you don't get into Parsons or FIT, like I didn't, you could still go to a smaller university. It depends on what you make out of it. It never hurts to try anything.
