
"Competitions vary depending on what type they are. Regular competitions are a six man heat (or round) that last fifteen minutes. The top two waves determine your score. The top three people make it into the next heat until the final round, and whoever wins the final round wins the contest. A ten is the highest score you can get for each wave."
"To get a high score you need to surf well and get the biggest wave. Individual competitions are when surfers go all around the world and try to win points for the World Qualifying Series (WQS). Whoever gets into the top six of a contest goes on to the bigger competitions and championships."
