
When most kids were running around playgrounds, Alana's dad, Holt, was teaching her to surf at just four years old."I got involved with surfing just from growing up at the beach. My dad was a surfer and there was nothing else to do. I'm a competitive person so I started competitions at nine, entering in the NSSA (National Scholastic Surfing Association), which is for amateurs 18 and under, as well as the HSF (Hawaiian Surfing Federation)."
"I've surfed in Portugal, Australia, California and all around the island of Hawaii, but my favorite places to surf are my home (Break Beach on the island of Kauai) and Cerritos, California."
