untitled (i am from easy-bake ovens and disney movies)
I am from easy-bake ovens and Disney movies
From bleached apartments and noisy neighbors,
I am from old art projects, long forgotten,
From messy rooms and big back yards.
I am from kiddie pools and sugary cereals,
From summer days and cold winter nights
I am from team sports and Grandpa's house,
From the bed time stories told to me when I was small,
Forgotten for a while, in a shoe box,
Just waiting, To be opened again.
I am from cheesy pizza and memories
From Aunt Beth and Piglet,
I am from good nights and bedbugs
From hurry ups and slow downs
I am from Annie's and the 7-eleven
From hang nails and sour red medicine
I am from horseshoe games and the Italian farmhouse
From warm autumn afternoons and the mist that settles over the ocean
I am from the lies and the chic nougats
From the victorious wrestling matches and the disastrous skits
I am from exploding marshmallows and the melting pink plastic
From the duck nose and the eight dollar roller skates
I from rotten cantaloupe pills, cut in half,
From long lost friends
Hidden from me.
All of my thoughts and memories
Tucked within the protection of the lilac bush
These grave stones of the past sit
Full of sorrow and giggles
Waiting to bloom again
