I'm 15 years old and my mom won't let me wear make up. She says I don't need it because I'm "naturally beautiful" but I feel like she's just using that as an excuse to control me.
I don't want my face to look like a clown or anything--I just want to be able to cover up my zits and wear a little mascara sometimes. My mom thinks I'm making a big deal out of nothing, so I really want to show her that this is important to me.

Talk It Out
Try talking to your mom, and let her know why you want to wear make up. Ask her if she wore make up at that age, and if she wanted to. Sit down with her and maybe try showing her exactly how you'd like to wear make up, and try applying some on her too. This could be a bonding experience, and show her that you don't want a face full of make up, just a little. --Posted by shaunna_etiquette 10:42PM EST 10/08/08
Let Her Know You Are Your Own Mature Woman
Show your mother that you are an independent young lady; do more chores around the house and opt to go shopping with her. Babysit.
Now, the honest truth: did you think that maybe she doesn't like the colour tones you are wearing? Try wearing NATURAL colours, and using eye make up that will high light your eyes. See a professional about how to get the perfect natural, warm look you're looking for.
Also, make up just doesn't look good on some people. Maybe you don't look good with it, or you are wearing it wrong? Try not to wear dark eye make up or bright lipstick, or you will look like an emo clown. --Posted by lemonie 08:20PM EST 10/08/08

Go To The Website
You can go to website like ehow.com or ivillage.com, they have videos by show you how to do makeup. I feel the same way by how you feel that your mom didn't want you to wear makeup. My mom told me that I don't need to wear makeup so I never worn makeup until I turn to 21 years old and I decided to give a try, even through I look ok with makeup but I rather use my natural beauty. I know that you have ance, it same thing that I have ance but I just try my best to take care of it and sometime I wear make up to cover it. I hope this will help you. --Posted by blackdream20 11:28AM EST 10/07/08
Go Slowly
My mom was like that for a bit, but she got over it. Take her to a make up place that gives free sample make overs so that way she can see how you can wear a little bit of make up.
And nothings wrong with cover up and mascara. It's not going to change how you look a lot. If she thinks your making a big deal, wear cover up one day with out her knowing and see if she notices. She might not. But it's your face so I don't see why she should be upset, like you said, it's not going to be pancaked on. Good luck though --Posted by gods_girl16 09:06AM EST 10/07/08
