take it easy
Some people don't like letting all their personal business hang out there. And when it comes to something as complicated as race it can be very scary to let everyone know how you feel. I don't know your boyfriend, but maybe this problem has nothing to do with you. Maybe he's afraid of being rejected by his black friends. I know some black people that view interracial dating as a betrayal. They have nothing against white people, but considering the history of blacks in America, they feel like it's disrespectful to their race. I personally don't feel that way, but I understand where they're coming from. However, if it really hurts and bothers you, you should talk to him about it. My advice is not to push him for some grand declaration of love, just let it out naturally. People will make their own judgements regardless of what you do, say, or how you act in public. --Posted by candycaines 08:59PM EST 11/23/04

Talk to him
Tell him how you feel. Ask him how come he's not ready to tell anyone yet. If he's not, then ask him to explain to you how come he's not ready to tell anyone because you don't understand because you are going out. So he should feel some kind of trust between you two. Ask him if he's afraid of commitment or if it's just that he's not ready for commitment. --Posted by fizzs_babygurl 03:54PM EST 11/23/04

yeah.
Put him in your shoes. How would he feel if you didn't tell your friends about him just because he is black? ... Sorry, but this really pisses me off!

He's a jerk!
I dated a guy that was black and white (mixed). Nobody cared about the color difference. The reason he's not telling people is because he is ashamed that he likes you. Talk to him about it! --Posted by cuteymeg1 11:04PM EST 11/22/04

Well.....
He may be embarassed that you're a different race. But talk to him and ask him straight up what his prob is. --Posted by stanford_chica 10:18PM EST 11/22/04

Talk to him
I think you should really talk to him about it and see what he thinks. Tell him how you feel! --Posted by i_luv_ducks 08:22PM EST 11/22/04

I don't know what's going through his head, so I might be wrong, but don't you think he would WANT people to know? I mean, if he really likes you, shouldn't he be proud to have you? --Posted by bheaclkey716 07:00PM EST 11/22/04

I seriously think you and he should just take it nice and slow and let people find out day by day because if it's love, then whatever people think shouldn't be a subject in ya'll's relationship. Tell him not to worry. Let things happen naturally and there will be nothing at all to worry about. --Posted by anthonys_babe 01:59PM EST 11/22/04
