It's okay
Though liking a guy who is gay, when you are a girl, doesn't happen to everyone the situation is easy to understand. It is the same as when anyone likes someone who is not interested in them back. It hurts. Sometimes it hurts a lot. But you have to understand that if your friend Jim is gay, there is no changing him and how he feels.
But be proud of him for having the guts and trust in you to tell you! Coming out is not an easy thing for people to do (I have a friend who came out a couple of months ago). If that person tells you their deepest secret, they feel a really good bond with you. So though you won't ever have a romantic relationship with Jim, be glad you still have a wonderful friend. As with any crush or broken heart, it will take some time to really process the information and move on. --Posted by greek_wisdom 01:37AM EST 07/05/05

Dude, I totally went through the same thing
It sucks, I know. But eventually I realized, that I value our friendship way too much to let my crazy emotions get in the way. I did tell him and he was totally cool about it. So, my advice? Tell him, but don't let that get in the way of your friendship.
This may sound silly, but think of it as a celeb crush. You KNOW you can't have them...but hey, it's a sweet little fantasy right?
Good luck! <333 --Posted by x_criss_riss_x 10:21PM EST 07/03/05
