Religion
Religion...if you think about it, it is a pretty big word. I honestly don't see how people believe that there is no God. How do you think you got here. All I can say is that one day when you are burning in hell, you will wish that you had him, but guess what it will be to late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! --Posted by sballqueen05

HELINC
I am HELNIC! THAT MEANS THAT I BELIVE IN THE GREEK GODS. LIKE ZUEZ! --Posted by krtrudel02
Polythiestic
I beleive that there is more that one god, but i also believ that everyone has a choice. I beleive in the ancient Greek gods/goddesses, the Ancient Egyptians gods/goddesses. I believe that there is a higher power, watching over us, and a higher power waiting for us to screw up our lives! --Posted by dark_sybelle
Belonging
Religion is nice since it gives you a way to belong. Most religions are for things like kindness and respect, and thats good. Sure there are bad things but I'm an opptimist. If its good keep it, and it is. organized religion is also nice since t gives people a sense of community, and the world could use that. Its nt the whole religions fault some of its people are violent or whatever. --Posted by expressem

I AM CHRISTIAN
Organized gives you a place to fit in...God's kingdom --Posted by ashley1492

It's true that some people blindly follow a religion and don't even try to look at the facts, but I'm a Christian and I've been reading about my religion and others (not just from the Bible). I hate the reputation some Christians have earned us, that we judge people & think we're the only ones going to heaven. I have strong beliefs, but it's not my business to condemn people. I believe that God has the final say about who will live with Him in heaven. I just ask you to please approach the idea of God with an open mind like I try to. Atheist & journalist Lee Strobel did in his book The Case for Christ, and he concluded that God is real. wow that was long. --Posted by nerdtastic
just don't go too far
i like my religon, but i know that sometimes organized religon can be very overwhelming to those not in one. i think sometimes it gets too exclusive. i don't think that it's ok to tell someone that they are going to burn in hell because they don't believe the same things u do. --Posted by thespian6

I think that..
I beleive in my religion....But i dont like it when people put down certain religions...I think that its good to beleive in something whether its a religion, the tooth fairy, or just the good in people. I think everyone should at the very least not put down other religions and at least be able to beleive that there is a chance that one of the religions is right... There IS a possibility that christianity, re-incarnation, athiests, buddhists ewish, or any of a million other religions are right.. There is NO WAY for us to know that for sure, so i think we need to accept and respect peoples choice of beleif.. they're not bad people just because they dont beleive in the same things as you. --Posted by peanutbutershortcake
i dont have a problem with it seeing as im a catholic. as long as it doesnt get all fundamentilist crazy i dont mind. ppl can believe what they want and practice however they want --Posted by ladyarya56

I was expecting there to be more disses than digs, and the results have confirmed my suspicion, but a little more than I hoped. Organized religion is not as silly and pointless and bad as a lot of people make it out to be. Organized religion, no matter what religion you are a part of, enriches your faith and enables you to take part in it with the community. It also serves as a guide, and a basis for your spiritual life, which is, according to faith, the most important part of your life.
I also think that a big reason why people diss organized religion is pride. There is obviously nothing inherently bad about religion (Muslim terrorists twist their religion, they are not true followers, and accordingly other people may twist their faith and not adhere to its teachings) --Posted by mangia_reve
.
I personally can't grasp how people can't believe in God. I mean, when you look around at what exists in this earth, you can't help but think that there HAS to be a God.
People start to question religion and faith because they're becoming too intelligent for their own good. They ask too many questions and are waay to hell-bent on proving things. If they can't be proved, then they're not mean to be proved. --Posted by magnolia92

ok my other post got messed up--it was incomplete-- so I'll post again. Organized religion is not stupid and pointless and bad like a lot of people make it out to be. People who are serious about their faith know that organized religion goes hand in hand with their personal spirituality--it serves as a correct guide (for something they freely choose to believe in), it's encouragement, it provides a place to worship with the community, because your faith should be communal. It renews and enriches your faith. I am a Roman Catholic, the most prominent of organized religions (in that it's the most organized), and the Church is central your faith if you're Catholic. Not only does it act as an infallible guide for faith and Scripture, but it provides us with the Sacraments, which are treasures when it comes to faith. Not everyone believes in this, but it's an example of how important organized religion can be.
I think a big reason for rejection of organized religion is pride. If they will let go of it, they'll see it in a better light. --Posted by mangia_reve

more harm then good
So much evil is done in the name of organized religion.
And really, organized religion is just a way to control people's thoughts.
I think being spiritual is fabulous, but organized religion gets very bad very easily. --Posted by areyousomeonesprayer
I'm on both sides

People should be able to believe what they want to believe, as liberally or conservatively as they want.
What they shouldn't do is attack other people for following a different religion. Everyone should get a chance to express what they believe in, be it Islam, Christianity, Judism (let's not deny the fact that they are related), Buddhis, etc.
People should just chill and not get worked up over someone not following a certain religion.

Pointless
Just another reason for people to break into groups and alienate each other. If we are all God's children, then why are we all worshipping different things? For example, if I'm a Catholic, I can eat pork, but if I'm a Muslim, I can't. How do we know which one is right? Also, I don't see how having sex before you're married will send you to the fiery gates of hell. Sex got us here, didn't it? Organized religion is just another way to take the fun out of life. --Posted by sonjay
if you study religion, you will find that most all of them are just the same thing worded differently. for instance, all of the basic principles are the same : be nice to everyone, be fruitful, be industrious, etc. and seeing that all of these principles are what being human is about anyway, i think that if you just use common sense you will be fine :) --Posted by balu404
Nah.
I'm a good person with strong morals, but I don't believe in god. I am living proof that you don't need religion to have a clear conscience. --Posted by Sporkatronic
If religion is what "saved" you or helped you , or whatever, then fine. But prove to me that there is a god. Give something i can hold in my hand and not in my thoughts. Too many people go overboard in this religion thing. I cannot count how many times i have been told that having sex before marriage will send me to hell. Then here i come, at least i had fun out of the grasp of an endless war between these falsified beliefs --Posted by shatterdglas
Having faith is good, and I am not against spirituality, but I find that organized religions is usually a means to control people. And thats why it's mostly outdated in modern society. --Posted by sheensha
i think you should have a choice what religion you are,if you are one,and no-one should try and force you to any religion-everyone has the right to do and believe what they want! --Posted by pornstar

scary
i think its scary when a lot of people belive in the same thing like god, then they are easy to lead and then wars began and stupid things like that.... --Posted by ursula987

i need proof.
if religion makes you happy, good for you. i beielive in different things. I am both an existentialist (look it up) but i, in a small way, also beleive in God. Science states that matter cannot be created or destroyed... so where did everything start? But other than that... Science makes sense more than religion. If i have sex, i will not be damned. Sex is what got us here. I do not beleive in Hell, i beleive in the center of the earth. I do not beleive in Heaven, i beleive in Space and Clouds. If God created all of us for a reason, then why did he create Gays if they are "not right"? Sure, some things Christians beleive in are right... and moral... however, i do not need church to help me be a good person. If i use what knowledge i have from my parents raising me, what i learn in school, moral judgement, and common sense, i will be a good person. Just because i dont practice a religion, doesn't mean i can't ever be a good person or "God will deny me" or what not. Religion makes you feel better about yourself, and helps you make decisions. But you dont need it to feel good or make those right decisions. Just be humane.
Religion creates too much controversy in this world. However, without it our world would be insane because people wouldn't have anything to restrict them from being bad. Religion is both good and bad. I am neutral.
If you are religious however, NEVER EVER try to convert someone who does not want to be converted. If they want to be converted, they will find they're God themselves. He'll supposudley come into their life as needed. So let him come as needed.

oh my GOD
wow, alot of people today are close minded about GOD and all that christian bs because they have been taught to believe in all that trash their whole lives. get a clue and think for yourself. --Posted by ohohairplane

Come On
I honestly, don't exactly believe the bible, come on, was someone sitting, watching the earth get created, and writing it down? I asked some of my religious friends how did the people who wrote the bible know all that, and they just simply said they just knew. Sure, I do believe in god a little bit, but then it's 2 hard 4 me 2 believe in a being creating the earth in 6 days, science makes more sense, some of my religious friends don't believe in ghosts, but it's like , how can u believe in god and not ghosts, 2 me it's like he is a spirit! And some religious people take it way 2 far, some overly religious people go kind of bonkers and kill people cuz "god told them 2", puh-lease. But if people wanna believe in god, that's okay, u can believe in anything u want.I mean some people believe in the FSM. I think some of the sins are stupid 2, do whatever U want people! I'm sorry if I offended any religious people, but that's my opinion on religion. --Posted by minxxee

Surprised but Happy
First off, I was surprised when I saw that disses outnumbered digs on this one, because I'd been under the impression that most teens were still religiously oriented. I am not, I don't believe in god or any religious ideas. My parents are a mixed couple, and I was brought up in neither religion--a fact that bothered me when I was younger, but now I'm very happy about. Organized religion, to me, is a lot of brainwashing young kids and even adults into believing things that science, which makes a lot more sense, tells you are wrong. I think there are some good parts about religion, such as community and stuff like that, but I also think that people should do that sort of thing on their own, not need "God" to tell them they should. So yeah, I don't particualarly mind people who are religious, (as long as they don't try and force their beliefs on others) but I do think its outdated and dumb overall. --Posted by affle

I Don't Agree With It
Why must you have priests, buildings, books, and other things just to worship God? I don't agree with it. --Posted by alucardlover

I'm just not a religious person --Posted by musicgeek00
people are brainwashed
is there something out there? ... who are we to say yes or no? we have no idea. but religion is man made and no one should tell u what to believe when they have no proof. i doubt there's some man up in the sky watching our every move deciding if we burn in hell or not, but there is a higher power. my point being, people have no say in what to believe... just have faith in the unknown. --Posted by chellokitty
