suburbs can suck on these nuts!
the idea is nice, everybody be friendly, nice neighbors, close to nice schools bUT DAMN! i've been to the suburbs a couple times! all the houses look the same its stupid! nothing orignial. I love where i live. every house is different, the kids rebel for no good reason, the bus is right there, the citys right there, everything is there in my face and we don't have beaches so theres nothing for us all to do except cause trouble. and a lot of suburb kids like to go shopping or smoke weed on their dad's yaghts or whatever. i dontlike the suburbs and i don't like you either!!!
just kidding BFFL i love you --Posted by nattyicedreams

I used to live in the city, and I now I'm a reluctant member of suburbia, that being a huge understatement. Hardly anyone here has any concern for what is going on outside of their backyards and is too busy waxing their SUV's, populating the shopping malls and watching the O.C. to care about anything of actual consequence. I seriously cannot stand it. There is also little diversity b/c of the "white flight" that occured in America's past. It may seem like a safe place to raise your kids physically, but the emotional and psychological torment it will reap upon your kids is an important consideration. I'm a biracial (African-American/Caucasi an) kid and I'll tell you, it's been Hell. I think that it's made me stronger in some ways, but I still wouldn't recommend it. Diversity is VERY important and most of suburbia doesn't have much of it. --Posted by notyourbaby

Home of the wealth!!
I live just outside Atlanta in the suburbs. My friends act ghetto and we know we aint.. we are just rich, cheerleading, gossip fulled kids that go to a wealthy private school. I would say I would love to move to the city because there are people who don't have 5 cars on there drive way and don't have a exclusive gardner to mow the lawn, but don't get me wrong.. I LOVEEE the suburbs a wholeeeee lot!! I have wonderful friends who acts just like any kid in the city. --Posted by pop2dapop
I Live In The Suburbs And I Love It.
I'm starting to think there're different categories of suburbs.. Because I live in the suburbs, and what people have been saying here sounds NOTHING like where I live. The people aren't all rich, the houses look different, I don't know of anyone who watches the O.C. in my neighborhood, although I don't doubt someone does, I don't ever see people waxing their SUVs.. I think people in the city and stuff are getting the wrong idea of the suburbs from watching too much TV or something, because what everyone's saying sounds nothing like how it is for me. I live in the suburbs and I love it here. It's not too crowded, but it's not dull.. It's just right, I can't see myself living in the city or country and liking it more than this. --Posted by imnoheroine

50m difference
Where i live there is like a 50m wide park separating the "dodgy side" and the suburbs. Where i live is ok but in the suburbs the houses are much better. The houses are bigger and you have gardens. Who cares if its "boring", its quiet and prettier. --Posted by futureheads

Safe and clean and sterile = too rare.
After some consideration, I've decided that I kind of like suburbia. The city would just be too stressfull, and the country would just be too damn creepy. I'll agree, Suburbia is BORING AS HELL!!! at least if you ... y'know, ... like doing stuff... besides watching tv and hanging out w/ your parents and going on the internet and studying and posting on forums, haha. But it's true, suburbia is only slightly safer than any other place. It's true that there is less violence and crime here, and out of anywhere it is probably the safest place to live - but I felt paranoid as anything in this house, at least until we installed the security system yesterday (now I can go to sleep w/o the lights on). But it's clean, it's pretty, and it's nice so I like it. The kids here are idiots, but the area is gorgeous and quiet, and even though there is a lot of hidden drama and abuse behind closed doors, it's still so much safer than anywhere else. --Posted by voguebarbwire

Hey, the suburbs are pretty cool. All my friends live close, they are a lot of nice malls, movie theaters and skaing rinks to go to. I love the city, and I visit NYC on a regular basis, but I could never live there. Too cluttered. --Posted by unemployedninja
Come on, there's more to the suberbs than the houses all looking the same (which they don't btw). It's all about being able to walk to school, the lake, or to your friend's house in hardly any time. It's about all your parent's PTA friends that you know are watching out for you, because the more connections you have to people, the more you get out of the suburb experience. It's a nice safe place to live, sorry if you city people don't think that's hardcore ghetto enough, but everyone thinks gangs, traffic and excessive noise are a positive thing.. --Posted by augurey14
They're alright
Living in the suburbs are alright. I mean if u grew up in D.C where i grew up u wouldn't mind living in the suburbs. I mean it is alot of kids that live around me so the neighborhood isn't queit but i don't have to hear gunshots or nuffin lyke dat. --Posted by littlecutiebaby
theyre cool!
i like suburbs alot!! cities are boring and scary alot of dangerous things happen at night and theres cockroaches everywhere in apartments!! At suburbs people may act differently, but you definitley feel a lot more comfortable there! --Posted by imperson
i dont know what suburbs you people have been to or seen, but my neighborhood has plenty of diversity and there arent any prissy rich kids. Its nice, cause most people are pretty friendly and everything is within walking distince. The city isnt that bad, but I love it where i live. --Posted by mariahscary
THey're ok. We're not as shallow and rich as you think. We've got really rich ppl and REALLY poor people. I like having the space though. and knowing that with a couple exceptions its realitively safe.
On the downside... Its BORING. you have to drive everywhere, and theres little racial diversity. --Posted by shinexxxon
Rockin' the Suburbs
I've lived in the suburbs all my life, and I really wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It's quiet and peaceful, but there's still enough action going on so that you're not completely bored out of your mind. --Posted by amyliz

suburbs (:
i live in the suburbs and im 14, i like it, but it is alot of drugs and such going on out here, and we also get to do alot more things because of money and all the houses out here are differnt, so it is far from boring out here, although i do enjoy going to the city sometimes, just to change thing up alittle. --Posted by maycake420

sadly, i live in the suburbs. it sucks...you're isolated all the time. yeah go ahead and say i don't know what life is 'cause i haven't experienced it but hey i used to live in detroit...so shut up! i've been to both sides, and well quite frankly, detroit was better --Posted by pooloflove
The area I go 2 school in
The area I go to school in is called Spring, Texas and im being serious when i say that everyone there has never experienced life before, and from the looks of it, they don't really want to. The people there don't really dig individuallism, that's why there arn't hardly any artistic people there, those people all live in the city. And the people, that can sometimes b cool and different when your alone with them, but right away when their friends come they automatically turn into a clique member. You learn to expect that, because their so predictable it's funny. There are some cool people in the suburbs, but that's nowhere that I would want to live. --Posted by heymama77

Suburbia
I. HATE. THE. SUBURBS.
Let me address a few things. I lived in Brooklyn for eight years, then I moved to this hellhole known as the suburbs. The first thing is the whole drug issue. Like neazoom4000 said, there ARE more drugs in the suburbs. Especially in private schools because drugs don't come cheap. They cost money. Money that little bored rich kids have. And thats why they get high. Because they're bored. Next--The whole safe thing. The suburbs aren't safe. Case Closed. Nowhere is completely safe. And there are more kidnappings up here because there are more rich little kids who are TOTALLY unaware of their surroundings and just get snatched. Third--The whole quiet thing. True, the cities are noisier, but its just cars really. It isn't that loud. But the suburbs...its eerie quiet. Not a soul is around if you walk around at night. and THAT ladies (and gentleman) is how people in the suburbs get snatched and raped and stuff. Fourth--the whole "diversity" issue. Okay. In my grade of fourty-nine students...5 are black. Lets dissect that shall we? 1 is jewish/black. 2 are german/black but consider themeselves german. and me and this other guy are black. That's it. People in the school thought that me and the guy were, a. brother/sister, b. cousins, and finally c. boyfriend/girlfriend. All because we're black. We don't look ANYTHING alike btw. Fifth--"knowing your neighbors" I HAVE NO IDEA WHO MY NEIGHBORS ARE. THAT IS BULL.
Don't try to pull that crap about how I only like the city because ive only been in the suburbs for like a day. Ive been in the suburbs for FOUR HORRIBLE YEARS. I can't wait to get out and go to college!!!!

Suburbs Suck!
I live in the suburbs and it's a complete cultural void. There is absolutely no diversity nothing ever happens and there is absolutely nothing to do. Everyone is so fake and annoying, and whether you think its a stereotype or not too many people are obsessed with the OC, hollister and abercrombie. Its sickening how sheltered and pointless life is here. Who ever said the suburbs are a state of mind don't live here or have moved out. --Posted by pinkxoxchic
Suburbs = Epitome of SUCK.
I hate the suburbs. Growing up in the city, I always had this sort of angst feeling against the suburbs, but I never really understood why. My classmates used to rag on suburban people, because they all acted like droids, wore Abercrombie, and gave off their cheesy "Oh I care, I really do" fakesy smiles. I never understood all that until I joined a program in High School where the city school system congregated with other schools in the area for something called "Project Love." Oh that went reaaally well. From that instant, I realized for my self, that they really all DO look/act the same. And it drives me crazy now. Since I've transfered colleges to the East Coast, I have hated almost every moment of it. 16 year old white boys and girls driving around in huge SUVs listening to rap with bass on full blast. I can't go 2 minutes w/o seeing someone doing that. Come on. Sure, I've tried to "deal with it," but the college I'm in now is the total opposite from what I grew up with. FILLED with suburbinites. All right now, really do I have to rant about it? The bottom line is, the suburbs SUCK. --Posted by kiikyo
