I dig it even though in a perfect world we wouldn't need it. A perfect world, unfortunately, is not achievable. Self-interest helps the world go round and capitalism ensures competition which ensures survival of a species.

Capitalism is what makes america GREAT. Those who work hard are rewarded and those who are lazy stay in the exact same spot. My dad grew up with nothing and has now become a successful business man. You know how he did that? Hard work! And lots of it! Damn! If you all love socialism so much- move to europe!

Um, George Bush has nothing to do with the concept of capitalism. I mean, you could argue that he's ruining our economy and that has to do with capitalism, but... seriously, find a dig/dis board for Bush or go to a shoutout or something if you want to have a Bush-bashing session. This is not the place to do it. Capitalism isn't perfect, and it hads quite a few flaws. But I haven't seen any practical, better alternatives. This isn't altogether that bad; it works pretty well.

alphacentauri, go back to english class and work on those reading comprehension skills. ozgirl makes perfect sense. capitalism is our economy. bush is the president of our political system. iraqi prisoners have nothing to do with it. i agree with ozgirl.

considering the alternatives I think capitalism is the best option we have. No country has a perfect economy, as no perfect economy really exists, but I would rather be capitalist than anything else.

Good Idea
Capitalism is a very good idea when it comes to corperal america.. Opposed to socialism, Capitalism is where every man is for himself. People who work hard get far and those who don't, simply don't. It's the fairest way to run things and we've been doing it in america and we're doing fine

Capitalism does not equal Bush! No one seems to get that!! Yes, Bush does run a capitalist country, but so as EVERY OTHER AMERICAN PRESIDENT!!!!!! I am not a fan of Bush, but I am a fan for the United States. And YES there are some flaws to capitalism, but there are even more flaws in COMMUNISM. Be realistic! Communism has NEVER worked. It is too hard to create a system where everyone is equal, because SOMEONE will always want power and money! Sorry! It doesn't work! Capitalism, although flawed, is THE ONLY WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In theory, communism/socialism seems ideal, but it never works on a large scale. While capitalism has its flaws, there is no better system. So you have to dig it... there's no other good option.

In capitalism, the way to get rich is not by working hard. It is by getting others to work hard for you and gaining a powerful title through this. For the most part I disagree with capitalism, but for a large country I think it's the easiest way to please the citizens.

I definitely prefer command economies to capitalism. It's a government's job to look out for its people. It should ensure that everyone gets a wage that they are able to live off, and that everyone has an equal share in the wealth of a nation. You say without capitalism there's no incentive to work? The hardest workers in the world are the people in the factories who toil all day and all night and go home with virtually nothing. Meanwhile, Paris Hilton doesn't have to lift a finger to do anything, and she access to all the clothes anyone could ever want! Does that make any sense to you? Capitalism may work in theory, but in real life it's isn't fair. We've never tried a command economy as a democracy yet - why not?

I'm extremely against capitalism. Let's just put money and the commercial world aside for one second and think about people. Under communism, everyone would get an equal pay and an equal everything. Poverty will be taken off the streets and people wouldn't even have to worry about religion. It's a shame that most people have this mentality that communism is horrible and causes civil war within countries, and is basically an anti-democractic system. Do you know how much of an impact communism would have on the environment and the inhabitants of this world? Ladies, I would say a lot.

I hate when people call me a communist for thinking this, but i think socialism is better, because you know you are always taken care of. college is almost FREE.. all of them! private or public, good or bad. health care- free, most commodities are really cheap because you give alot of your paycheck to the government. its like they save for you, because you get all of it back.

Why?
Why do we have to live in a society where the gap between the rich and the poor is getting larger? The rich should be getting less millions in the bank (because even though you have five beds you can still only sleep in one each night) and that left over should be going to the less fortunate who work the jobs that only get minimum wage.
