Online slang is good ONLINE. I hate when people go up to you like "OMG I was talking to my BF and he was lyke WTF R U doing here?" The commercial (I think it's for Verizon??) where the little girl is all "IDK My BFF Jill?" is really funny though. I love that.

Some is ok.
I mean saying lol, u, 2, g2g, brb, etc. is ok im my opinion. However making it so it takes a long time to interpret by using unknown phrases isn't very time saving, now is it?

i luv havin online slang! like if ur in a rush and you need to type sumthin fast you can do it in a couple seconds or less! instead of talk to ya later you can alwayz type ttyl and its a quicker way to chat instead of writin out whole words you have acronyms (did i spell tat rite?)!

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. I hate chatspeak with a fiery, burning passion. Most people who use it are 11 year old teenyboppers who like Usher...and if you aren't that and you use it, it makes you look like one. Really, it just makes you seem incredibly stupid, like you flunked English in school.

If you're a slow typer, then I think it's okay to use thing such as, 'lol' or 'brb'. However, it does NOT take that long to capitalize your 'I's, to use commas, and to capitalize people's names.
The one thing I think you have absolutely NO EXCUSE for is not capitalizing the first letter of your Screen Name- it only takes a second, and you don't have to keep retyping it, since you only do it once.
Besides, chatspeak makes you look stupid.

Are you really that slow of a typer?
I can't stand chatspeak. It really makes people look stupid. And people's main excuse,"But I'm a slow typer." It doesn't make THST much of a difference, and hey, the best way to improve your speed is to type words out! I can't bear talking to anyone on instant messaging that talks like this:"yo wut up u cmin 2 da gme?" It really makes me want to stab them in the eye with a poptart or something.

I'm anti-chatspeak. I don't understand how "ppl could tlk lyk dis". I wonder if they know they look completely unintelligent and silly when they send messages like that. How are we supposed to take someone who types like that seriously? The answer: You can't. So, kids, just say "no" to internet slang. And pay careful attention in English class =)

For the sake of English, type out your words! The occasional shortening, like brb, is alright, but everything? It's lazy to replace "To" and "Too" with a number. The only time that chatspeak should really be used is in chatrooms, when the conversation is going fast, not on message boards, email, nor Private IMs.

Ok, for those who don't know how to type, it's very common to, type lyk dis. It's because they have to look at the keyboard and make it short with less hassle. I think it's also radiculous when people type LiKe DiS WeIrD Waii... I mean seriously it's hard to read and it's for people with no common sense. Don't type the way you speak people! It's pointless and uncool, plus it's hard to read! So, do yourselves a favor and learn how to type before you use a computer!
