Olympics = Love
The Olympics are the BEST!! I look forward to them all the time!! Especially now that theyre coming up again. and for all of you people who dont like them because theyre going to miss their show, you can stop complaining, because they only come once every 2 years, and theyre only on for like 20 days. PLUS, other people ACTUALY LIKE to watch people compete. Maybe the sport you play is in the Olympics and you dont care? well someday if you make it there, youll be happy theyre on Tv. ok? yea. Besides, Im pretty sure you can live with them. Its not like theyre on everyday.

i love the olympics! i always look forward to watching it! i love watching all the other athletes from other countries as well as our athletes from the U.S.A.
i wish though that this had a link for soccer it seems gurl.com forgot about that sport

Promotes internationalism - to a certain extent
I like how the Olympics promotes internationalism. It encourages all these different countries to come together in a worldwide competition of sports. It's stood the test of time and never been crippled by any wars - for the most part people have gotten together for the Olympics regardless of international conflicts. Of course, the promotion of internationalism is only really there in the closing and opening ceremonies. It gets a bit counterproductive since it's a competition, and it especially bothers me that the American news anchors always talk about the Americans like they're the best and if they don't win it's a crime. I think the most talented athlete should win, no matter which country they come from! I love listening to the different national anthems - if the U.S. won all the time, all we would ever hear were the "Stars and Stripes" and that would be boring. Olympics are fun to watch and you learn about different sports and countries by watching them, but I think that they should promote some less competitive international events, like arts programs, where you can truly learn to appreciate other countries. And as for sporting events, I much prefer events like the World Cup where you can't root for the home team all the time, since they're not in all the games! That's more international in my opinion.

The olympics is a great idea , i don't know what the world would do without it. Its a chance for some of the greatest athletes( etc) in the world to shine . I love running i go 3 times a week and specialize in the 200m.

diversity
i like the olympics because i get to see sports that are rarly on tv. like track and swimming. football is always on and its nice that other sports get some attention, even if its onle every 4 years.

wow the opening ceramony was MIND BLOWING how they used ppl to do most of it and was like percise on every thing. i luved it! and for the sports i usually dont like sports but i like watching the olympics 4 some reason

In my opinion it's nice to see all the countries together. It's so cool to see what other people look like from other countries. And other countries can gather around peacefully (sorta)
and it also gives us the right to cheer on team USA! go Micheal phelps!

I like playing outside with my friends and having fun, or just being active. But I don't like to play sports, and not everyone else does. The olympics kindof remind the unsporty people that we suck at sports. And why do poeple watch sports? I don't even LIKE sports, and I know it's more fun to play them.

I think the US performed awesomely at the last Olympic games in Athens.
After hearing the interview from the BALCO president a few days ago, I don't know whether or not to believe all the hype. So many athletes we look up to just aren't natural born talented.
It sucks to think like people like Marion Jones and Barry Bonds are hooked an "the clear" and "the cream."
