Figure skating is my life.
I gotta say, I love figure skating. I learnt the basics when I was a kid, and I didn't even start freestyle til I was 15. And for the past 3 years, I've been in love with the sport.
A lot of people don't recognise it as a sport, sad to say. My view's that it's because skaters make all the moves look so easy, like it doesn't take any strength or power to execute moves. The flexibility part is what they see most. Really, you should try a double, let alone a triple. It could be a lot harder than you think. It takes loads and LOADS of practise and honing and conditioning to do what those people do at the Olympics.
For me, it's also a sport that sharpens my determination and will to reach goals. It's a rewarding thing to be on the ice. --Posted by munchyapple

MY LIFE!
I'm a figure skater, and it's so amazing. It really is a sport, you just gotta look beyond the sparkly costumes. I've skated for 10 years, since I was 4, and I think it's amazing. When you finally land a jump that you've worked hard on, all the falling is worth it. It's a sport that requires both athleticism and grace, and it takes a lot of hard work, even more than a lot of other sports, I know this because I play like 7 sports and out of all of 'em, skating's the hardest. --Posted by forsakenangel5
Dig!!!!
This past Olympics got me into ice skating and Skating with Celebrities. I really want to try it, but I can't find a place anywhere nearby :( --Posted by shydimples_08
In defense of my close friend who has figure skated for her entire life, as did her mother, and for myself, although an ex-skater, I'd like to say it is a sport. People say anything with judges isn't, but now thanks to a new scoring system, or so I've been told, the judges scores have to be based on a point system. Each jump or spin recieve a certain minimum and maximum number of points according to it's difficulty and how it was executed in the program. In the new program two groups determine the score, one technical analyzation and another the original judging panel. Seeing as how I do not know half of what I'm talking about, before you slam the sport for it's judges please visit: www.usfigureskating.org and visit New Judging System. --Posted by reader537

Figure skating does take strength!!!!
I figure skate, and people that think it doesn't require strenght are stupid, lol!i had like, the weakest legs ever, then for the 6th grade bike trip which was like 6 miles, i thought my legs would have fallen off, and they would have if i hadn't started skating, but my legs were just fine. it takes alot of strength to jump, especially when you do edge jumps. figure ksating, unlike alot of sports takes more then just knowing how to beat people up and kick something.figure skating takes balence, coordination, stamina, flexibility, and STRENGTH!!!!!!!!!!! --Posted by sitspingurl

I have wanted to figure skate since I was three. I love it so much, because figure skaters are so graceful. I ice skated once with my cousin and it was awesome. I felt like an idiot because I wasn't any good, but I loved being on the ice. --Posted by cutxupxfairy

Sorry...but gay
I like watching it on TV when it's on the Olympics and Canada's got a shot for gold, but I also don't consider it a sport. I think that anything requiring a judge to determine the winner is not really a sport, sorry. And after that HUGE scandel with the judging in Salt Lake, between the Canadians and Russians, it's even more depressing. It's gay, especially when guys do it. --Posted by nkwinslow123

The Image
I respect people who can figure skate, but I don't really see it as a sport, but more like dancing. It requires a lot of cordination and flexability but not exactly strenght, which is required in the majority of sports. --Posted by xtremewrestler

I wish I could
I seriously wish i could. My twin sister figure-skates and I'm so jealous! I'm a klutz on ice! I like wet water. But I respect ppl who can do it. I just can't. --Posted by preciousgemma

Its a good sport, but just not for me
Yeah, i enjoy watching my friends skate at carnivals and stuff, but i hate skating. i used to take it from when i was a lil bugger; till grade 5. and i dont regret the desicion one bit. i sucked hardcore, all the other gurls got the attention, it got 2 dam cold, so..i was like KAPE NOPE! its just not me...im a dancer instead. --Posted by archiez
