rocks out loud!
i have been riding since i was 7 and horses are a huge part of my life. There is nothing like working with a green horse and watching him come reach his full potential. The bond that you form with the animals is unbelievable, and there is so much to be learnt from it.. respect, patience, understanding, commitment. You can't rush anything when you're riding. I use the things that i learn from being around horses in the rest of my life, and it's made everything GREAT.
As well as being mentally fulfilling, riding is GREAT exercise for your core muscles, its SO relaxing, and it really helps improve your posture & balance. People are always complimenting on my abs, and i dont even work out! It's from riding!
Riding has given me so much confidence in myself. I don't know where i would be without my horses. --Posted by kylesgirlxoxo
Horseback Riding=Rad
I've been riding for 10 years now. Its amazing. And for you losers who say "OH NO DONT HURT THE HORSE IT HATES YOU...FREE THE HORSES" and such...you do not know that, hence you dont ride or have bonds with horses...they love to be worked most of the time, they arent like people; gosh; duh. Riding is amazing and keeps my life together, without it; i dont know what i would do. Its great and i love my horse and pony. --Posted by x_hotpinkpistol

I love it
I've never ridden a horse before. But, last week I went to my best friends stable and she let me ride her horse. I was so scared that the saddle was going to tip sideways and I was just going to fall off on my ass in the mud, but I actually had fun! And the horse really liked me! After I got off, she turned to me and bent down for me to get back on! --Posted by angiekitty

People are really stupid
IT DOESN'T HURT THE HORSES, MORONS! They weigh like almost a ton, it's like a human carrying a cat around. If you think it's cruel, you really nead to get your facts strate. I have been horse back riding sinse i was 5 and have been in two competitions, i know what i'm talking about. --Posted by scorpia
Horses are awesome
I have been riding for 3 years and i love my horses. They have such personalities and if i am stressed igo for a ride and i feel so much better when i come home. Horses love to go out and get some exersise and it is challenging for you to teach the horse and my leg muscles are so strong from riding. Horses rock!!!!!!!! --Posted by hashbrownz

Just imagine
Imagine if someone was sitting on your back all day and pulled you if you just wanted some freedom... --Posted by r0o0ar
Well
Okay, why don't some of you guys just think about it for one second. HORSEBACK RIDING ISN'T REally as cruel as you say it is!
Because, don't you know, horses are POWERFUL animals. If they are strong enough to carry a leather saddle and a person on their back, surely they can just as easily throw that person off. If that horse really didn't want to carry around the person, they would just rear up, or buck, and KASPLAT! human goes flying. Ha.
However, sometimes horses were forced into this, broken, etc. Which is why I DIS THIS WITH ALL MY HEART! --Posted by point-light
Also
Horses? Made for riding? HA! Horses, just like us, have their own purposes for life. Yes we are very light on their muscled backs BUT we're much worse than flies. How about someone pulling back hard on a metal bit in your tender mouth? How about having to do whatever your rider tells you to do? How about being poked by sharp spurs and flicked by crops? Would you like that? By the way, about the shoes, horses' hooves can't feel anything, they are very hard and are not made of flesh or have nerves or muscles in them. Sure when you shoe them it smells like smoke and burnt hair but it doesn't actually hurt. --Posted by point-light
The thing with girls being obsessed with horses and ponies is annoying. And I don't think any horse really wants to haul people around on it's back. --Posted by asdfasdf
Horses are the thing that broke up me and my best friend. --Posted by mouser123
poor animals.
Yes, I am dissing this. I used to ride horses- I rode them for four years, in fact. I stopped though, because I feel bad for them. Would you want to be forced to carry some fatass around for hours at a time? Carted to a horse show so that people can just see who is better at abusing their animal? Unnatural stress is put on horses who are used for riding and showing, which is very bad for them. Additionally, many horses have died just because of riding-related accidents. Most horses who are ridden develop a variety of leg problems, like broken legs, arthritis, ripped tendons, laminitis, lameness, thrush, and so many other diseases and ailments. Sure, riding is fun, but so is smoking marijuana. It doesn't mean that it's okay.
There is the argument that horses need exercise, and cannot without being ridden. Believe it or not, horses get exercise in the wild. They will just start running for fun with their horse-friends. Horses are not designed to be ridden, at all. They do not want to be ridden, which is why people have to use whips to make them work. Riding may have been necessary a long time for transportation, but those days are over and horses should just be allowed to retire.
My final argument is that horseback riding is extremely expensive, and most kids that start riding require their parents to pay for their 300 dollar saddles and 100 dollar helmets and 200 dollar boots, only to quit riding a few years later, and in some cases, a few months. It is in the end, pointless and unfulfilling for most people. --Posted by bringinsexybackk
