I've been with my boyfriend for over two years. He gave me a ring after a year of dating and he spent a fortune on it! That's not the important part, but if someone is willing to intrust a ring to you then you know you're worth the world to them. Guys don't spend $400 on just anyone.

Well, if you're serious about the relationship, then go for it! Let's say you want to get engaged one day, but your parents would blow up at you if you got engaged when you were 15 or 16-you get a promise ring.
If you're not serious, though, don't do it. I'm tired of the young couples (here, I'm talking about 13 year olds) saying that they love each other, because that's what you're "supposed to say", when they don't really mean it. It's the same thing with promise rings- don't give 'em if you don't mean it.

Speaking for myself I think a promise ring is great....but that's if it has meaning. My boyfriend bought me a promise ring 2 years ago for christmas when I was 18 and I love it. I think its just a symbolic way of saying "I promise to love you with all that I can and I promise to be faithful only to you" So yeah there a good thing as long as they have meaning but if you're just wearing one to be like "oh i got this from my boyfriend, cool huh?" then that's stupid.

But also keep in mind that promise rings, are in fact, a promise. And only responsible, commited individuals are mature enough to handle that kind of promise. If you really deeply in your heart believe that you and him will be together for a while than a promise ring is the right thing for you. But just don't get one because it's a ring and you want to show off... Because its only important if it means something.

Promise rings are great if u are in love and u are old enough to understand them. I am only 15 and my boyfriend is 20 and he gave me a promise ring and i thought about it along time before i accepted it cuz i didn't want to get into something i wasn't ready for. See if u do that and u kno what a promise ring really means then it is fine but if u are young then they don't really work someone will just get hurt. Promise rings are great and my promise ring is more then wonderful.

The few people i know that have them...are in highschool, and i think thats toatally rediculous, b/c i hate to say but its really hard to tell how your life is gonna go when you are that young. And beleive it or not i myelf have a b/f and i would REALLY like to marry him but i am not gonna attach myself to an idea that i dont even know about, it really just depends on what is gods plan.

Getting promise rings in high school is SO stupid. Come on, you're young, naive, and in a relationship, so you think the best thing to do is get a ring promising that you'll be together forever or some crap like that? I know plenty of guys who gave their girlfriends promise rings and was cheating on them behind their backs. And what's the point of promising to be with someone forever while you're still so young, ESPICALLY high school kids! We all know how THOSE relationships usually turn out.

A guy can't just give you a promise ring because it felt like the time was right. CUz thats what happened to me and he cheated on me not even a month later. So if its from someone who acutally cares about it its great. But if its from a guy who tryin to make you feel better or because the time felt right or hes trying to gain you back its bullshit. Promise rings become of sentimental value. They become more than a ring with meaning attached to it. When you guys break up, u can pawn the ring (if it's expensive, highly doubt that), or throw it at him and say the cheap ring is a piece of s***. haha. I threw mine in his toilet after I peed and left it there for him to see without flushing. Should've did #2. haha. But don't get him anything. A waste of money. U think you know someone but you really have no idea.

When you're still with the person, It's kind of like a wedding ring, it's a very personal and sentimental band of love around your finger to remind you of your sweetie all day. But what happens if you break up? Believe me, it gives you WAY more trouble than you could ever ask for. Looking at it gives you soo many painful memories that you just DON'T WANT. Then the ring loses it's "Magical Powers" Then it's just not special anymore, and it's hard to deal with.
