mmmk
why is it ok when regular people do all this stuff, but when celebs do it everyone's like "oh, they can't be good cause they're famous, blah blah, grr, i'm not voting for them cause they're famous" i mean come on people, they're just like us in some ways, such as politics
--Posted by daisyduke01

Well....
The only two movie star politicians I can think of are Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and I don't like either of them because I don't agree with their policies (well, I disagree with most of "Ah-nuld"'s, virtually all of Reagan's). Overall, though, I think movie stars have as much right to run as anyone else. Sure, they tend not to have much education, but so have a lot of our presidents, even our greatest ones. And, as Bush demonstrates, education doesn't always guarantee competence.

God....
WHO CARES!! They're people, just like you and me! Stop lookign at the fame. If you suppport them, then great! Vote for them! If not, then don't vote for them. but don't just vote for them b/c they're famous/not famous! That's dumb! Vote for who you like, regardless of the fame. Look at what they support, not how many people like them

I liked Reagan a lot, but I hate California's current govenor. I don't have anything against celeberty politicians in theory; they just have to be competent which is rere in politicians in general.

half 'n half
Arnold thing all v. amusing. Movie stars occasionally begin not-so-rich so they know about working-class citizens, where politician's kids are born and raised rich and know nothing about regular people (take Bush for example)

AH-NOLD
I don't know if I'm against celebrities becoming politicians. I'm always worried that people are going to look at their fame *co-Arnold-ugh* instead of the issues. I mean, really, who wants a governor who can barely pronounce English??? Plus, I'm a little preturbed that just because they have money they don't have to "work" their way up the politics ladder like the rest of us. But if they want to, no one can stop them. It's the only way Reagan got elected...
--Posted by ineriangel

As long as they know what they're doing, I see nothing wrong with it. Ronald Reagan was a great president wasn't he? I really don't find any sense in confining a person to one job, especially because they're "famous." What if a docter wanted to be a politician? Because they aren't famous, that causes no controversy? That doesn't make sense to me. The thing is, we label them as "He-is-an-actor-the-end." Not all actors are moronic crackheads that are concerned with their appearance and income you know. I should know--I love acting in any shape or form. That doesn't mean I wouldn't make an okay lawyer or politician.

If they have what it takes
Actually I think it could be a very good idea. a good politician should be able to see the world through the eyes of other people to understand all sides of a matter. movie stars do this every day, they play characters that are good, bad beautiful ugly, smart dumb and everything else. Plus they are used to dealing with people and the media already
--Posted by persephone

I think that celebrities are citizens too so therefore why shouldn't they have the right to become politicians as well as every1 else? As long as they're good at it and not doing it as a publicity stunt- not naming names *coughgarycolemancough*
--Posted by pinkpout

if they make a good political figure, then they're just like any other politician.... who cares if they've made movies or whatever

no coment.....celebs are dumb people who need to get a life!
--Posted by ksaw130

didn't we already learn our lesson...
the entire Arnold thing. I think alot of people had confidence in that guy, for what... a couple of movies?

retarded
i wish they would just shut up...uneccessary

No more GOVERNATOR!
I feel the celebrities should stick to what they are good at and leave the rest of the real world problems to people with experience and know how to deal with things. I live in California, so I am dealing with a celebrity politician as I write this. The "Governator" should never have been elected, let alone allowed to run. He has no idea what he is doing, he isn't even from this country!
--Posted by psellia

They probably wouldnt have gotten voted for if they were regular ppl. I would be open to a good celeb politician but so far i havent.
--Posted by thecrazyactress

Not ALL celebrities are stupid, but not many are smart enough to run for political positions. Celebs: stick to your day job.
--Posted by iluvthecheat

I see it as a "Hollywood Squares" routine. My careers in the toilet so I might as well go after politics. Notice, when some people suggested to George Clooney should run for president he said no. George Clooney is an A-list actor (with an academy award). Arnold (however you spell his last name) is California's governor and hasn't been in a hit movie for years. Although, it should be noted that JFK (very possibly our last great politician) was an actor before he was president. I still, overall, have to choose dis since most of them suck.

....
nah lets get smart people to do that...even though we havent done so yet
--Posted by ifailtocare

Arnold S.
Ah, you Americans...I can't believe that anyone would vote that thick-skulled idiot into office (even if they are Californians)...ah well, it seems the vast majority of Americans voted for Bush, so I suppose it's be expected that they'd vote another half-wit Republican into some seat of power. You'd think Americans would learn that voting for any type of celebrity is a bad idea after Reagan.
--Posted by french_fille

automatic votes
Politicians should be unknown so the voting isn't biased on whether their a good actor or not.
--Posted by caulfieldgirl91

dumb!
shut your ***ing mouth harrypotternut! if you hate americans then *** you and stay out of the ***ing post! also celebrities are retarded with dumb ideas who were never properly educated so what the hell ever. and besides not every american voted for ***ing bush cause i didn't! so get the *** over it!
--Posted by punker3130

First of all I have a general dislike for politicians, most of them are dishonest. But they are even worse, when they are not formally educated in the way of the government, and politics. How can I trust someone who did not study politics, government, and economics extensively to help rebuild an economy, avoid conflicts, and supervise a country?! I have nothing against actors, seeing as I am one,but unless they are educated extensively in this area they need to stay out of it. We have had some good presidents that werent formally educated, but that was when college was not very common for people to attend.
