In soccer, there are 11 people on each team, which adds up to
22 people in total playing on a field that measures approximately
110 yards long by 70 yards wide. In order to avoid congestion, there
are positions which are in charge of a general area of the field
to cover. Each position has a fairly specific job to do in order that the team
as a whole can play well and win.
There are four basic positions in soccer: forward, halfback/midfielder,
fullback/defender and goalkeeper.
