Michigan State University has something for everyone. It has all the opportunities of a big school plus the communal feel of a smaller, private school. With an expansive, park-like campus bordering East Lansing--the quintessential college town--the learning environment at Michigan State is also picturesque. Although the campus spans several acres and can seem overwhelming at times, the great variety of living options makes the school feel more personal and does a good job of meeting most residents' social and academic needs. Many students choose dorms based on the academic interests represented there: everything from arts and letters to medicine and law.
Michigan State students are a friendly, diverse group with a wealth of opportunities to take advantage of, on and off campus. There is a thriving student-run newspaper, a literary journal and several of the nation's most competitive collegiate and intramural athletic teams. Also, because Michigan State is an important research university, undergraduates get the chance to participate in original research.
Michigan State is a great place to make new friends, begin life on your own and realize your learning potential. If you can handle the shortage of personal attention that is so common at a large university, and if you have some initiative of your own, you can tailor life at Michigan State to suit your needs.
