To get rid of a hickey, some people rub combs or other objects over them. There is some truth to this, as rubbing the skin can help increase blood circulation and decrease clotting. If you apply ice and pressure immediately after you receive a hickey, you can sometimes minimize the swelling and redness. Some experts recommend gently pressing the hickey with the back of a spoon. None of these are a guarantee, however, and most hickeys need what all bruises usually need to go away: time.
