Human trafficking refers to the act of forcing, tricking or manipulating a person into work, usually involving labor or sexual exploitation. It's not the same thing as human smuggling. Smuggled people usually pay to be moved, and are free once they reach their destination.

The word "trafficking" might make it seem like a person needs to be kidnapped or physically moved, but that's not the case. People can be enslaved without leaving their home or while in a place they've traveled voluntarily.
