There are male and female condoms. Female condoms insert into the vagina and run down the vaginal canal until they reach the cervix. They have an inner ring at one end that is inserted into the vagina over the cervix and an outer ring at the other end that covers part of the perineum and labia when it is put on. The female condom works similarly to the male condom in that it traps semen and prevents it from entering the uterus.
Male condoms go over the head of the penis and slide down to the base of the penis's shaft. Male condoms are cheaper and usually more readily available than female condoms. They also come in a variety of sizes, colors, flavors and textures.
