A common side effect of surgery is swelling in the face. Patients may also experience headaches, stuffiness in the nose and a small bit of bleeding. Nose jobs are not very invasive and most patients are back to school or work within a week, though bruising and swelling may not disappear for up to two weeks. However, keep in mind that people react to surgery differently, and while some may recover quickly, it may take others longer.
It is very rare to die from a nose job, though some have. If a patient has complications from rhinoplasty, it is usually due to a reaction to anesthesia or an infection. Nonetheless, all surgical procedures involve risks, including death.
